Nine Mile in Ferndale, MI 48220 (corner of E. Nine Mile and Paxton). Appointments and Information 248-677-2273 This is an appointment ONLY clinic. All calls are returned within 24 hours. The Appointment Desk has many, many resources including other free medical clinic and sliding scale medical clinic information. Please also refer to the resources that are at a separate web page on this site. We are NOT adding prospective patients to our wait list because the list is so long. Please, though, call our Appointment Line because we have a lot of free clinic resources that may be helpful. Clinic Schedule and Hours At present, we are open the first and third Saturdays of every month, 9 am to noon EXCEPT next August and September, 2012. August dates will be 11 and 25 (2nd and 4th Saturdays) to avoid DreamCruise parking issues and September will be the 8th and 22nd (2nd and 4th Saturdays) to avoid Labor Day and the Ferndale DIY/ART FAIRS parking issues. PLEASE NOTE we can change or add clinic hours. ANY change will be noted on this website page as well as on the home page of the website. 2012 Schedule January, 2012 7th 21st February, 2012 4th 18th March, 2012 3rd 17th April, 2012 7th 21st May, 2012 5th 19th June, 2012 2nd 16th July, 2012 7th, 21st August, 2012 4th, 25th September, 2012 8th, 22nd October, 2012 6th, 20th, November, 2012 3rd, 17th December, 2011 1st and 15th Criteria for Patients (1) patients must be between the ages of 19 through 64 (2) have NO insurance of any kind: no public health assistance federal or state supplied (VA, Mediciad, Medicare, etc.) or/and NO private insurance of any kind including catastrophic or policies that include everything except office visits (3) patients are required to sign a Patient Contract as well as fill out a Health History and Information forms. (4) patients must have a photo ID. Services Offered All of the medical staff volunteering for the clinic are licensed or certified as required by the State of Michigan. Patients are seen by a practitioner (physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant). All lab work is done at the clinic with the results available to the patients in about 6 - 10 days. The clinic dispenses generic medications. A benefits counselor is available to help patients locate services and medications we do not provide. A social worker is available upon request. Services NOT Offered We do not handle any sexually transmitted disease issues. This service is free at the Oakland County Health locations. We do not do any obstetric work. Our physicians are volunteers and we cannot guarantee that the same medical staff would be able to follow a prognancy from diagnosis to birth. We do not do any emergency care. We refer callers and patients to a clinic/hospital with that capability. We do not do any mental health care that is beyond what a family practice/general care practitioner is comfortable with. To Volunteer to work at the clinic You can volunteer to work either once or twice a month. Please fill out the Volunteer application (separate webpage) and e-mail it with a copy of your license to the clinic. SEE addressess below. We ask that medical staff volunteers wear either scrubs or a lab coat. All staff are required to sign in and wear identification (we provide). Medical/health care staff are asked to wear either a scrubs or a lab coat. Coni Schmidt is out Clinic Manager and can answer any questions regarding clinic operations cschmidt@ferncare.org. All volunteers are subject to Medical Director and Clinic Manager approval.
